A form to reserve your choice of bike will be sent to you after sign-up.
Bike options
1. Aluminum road bike with carbon fork and seat-stays.
2. Top-of-the-line full-carbon road bike
3. Gravel bike: new top of line, like a road bike but can comfortably handle dirt and gravel roads.
4. "E-bike" (electric-pedal-assisted bike): which can make all routes accessible to everyone with moderate fitness or experience level.
Left to right: Michael has a regular road bike, Fausto is on a carbon, and Giudi is rockin' an e-bike! (note: most of the e-bikes are hybrids. Hers happens to be mountain-bike style.)
NOTE: For the Umbria trip we recommend you ride an E-bike, or a Gravel Bike only if you are an experienced cyclist prepared for hills. The surface is mostly asphalt (often with potholes, etc, we’re out in the boonies), but some rides also have unpaved, dirt roads for portions of the route.
We’ll be doing rides on 4 days during our week. Most rides are fairly flat though the Gubbio and Montefalco rides have plenty of hills. The e-bike option makes it accessible, or you can challenge yourself! In any case, we will be riding like tourists. Relaxed, photo stops, etc. No rush to keep up.
PUGLIA: The biking in Puglia is dolce vita – moderate terrain, but of course there are still some rolling hills because… what’s the fun in flat? The surface is mostly paved, with occasional gravel stretch. Recommended bikes: Gravel bike, or E-bike. Road bike if you are an experienced cyclist.
